I think people need to place faith in Yu and ignore Sega, he cares about the series, they dont. It's like you've already seen the video I'm working on right now, that's spooky. ;D

If Twitter hasn't responded to my appeal by tomorrow (looking unlikely) I'll be setting up a new account, so maybe save yourself a bit of time and wait till you have those details to update as well.

He's been posting in the Shenmue 500K Facebook group but, from my impressions at least, seems to have lost interest in the Team Yu side of things. I think he's fully bought into the idea that Shenmue HD is right around the corner and Shenmue 3 is a virtual given. I'd like to believe it myself, but...

Not sure if you still visit this thread Johnny, but if so, why have you deleted your YouTube account? Have your campaign videos been reuploaded anywhere?
Edit: Johnny's explained on Facebook that he wants to start a new account dedicated to Shenmue videos, rather than a mixture of other stuff he'd made previously, and will reupload them on that.

If you don't have a Wii then I'd say it's well worth taking advantage of a price like that, especially considering there's less risk of hardware faults like you might get with a pre-owned 360 or even PS3. I know the Wii has a reputation for having few must-have titles, but those it has really are must-haves.

I think you're right that they won't make any promises off the bat. But if they can say that high sales = sequel, then it would assure new customers that their emotional investment in the story won't be in vain. "Maybe we will, maybe we won't" isn't good enough - they need to attribute a correlation between sales of S1 & S2 and the green lighting of S3. Otherwise newcomers are going to spend their money on something else where they're guaranteed an ending to the hours of gameplay they're about to put in.

If any of the rumours prove true about Shenmue and Shenmue II being re-released as HD downloads, I think the next step for the campaign should be to ask Sega if they can give their potential new customers any guarantee that they won't be just setting themselves up for disappointment when they reach the same cliffhanger that the rest of us did ten years ago. We should stress that it's in the interest of their HD sales figures to announce Shenmue III is finally, definitely going ahead. If they still can't do that, despite the obvious benefit it would have on S1 & S2 sales, then I think that would suggest they're not just being coy and in fact have no plans for a sequel. In which case, the moral obligation remains for them to let Yu Suzuki take the license elsewhere.

Maybe he's seen Mr Anonymous in the communal showers, and was expressing his amazement at the mystery man's testicular endowment.

Have a gander a this: www.gamerzines.com/xbox/news-xbox/shenmue-xbla-hd-real-finished.htmlIf this site, and its anonymous source, are to be believed, then a high definition re-release of Shenmue has been waiting in a completed state for the past year, with Shenmue II HD also ready to go. According to the article, Sega has held back the Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network releases while deciding on the future of the Shenmue series. What do you think?

I agree with that. There's always been merit in the argument for Sega to test the waters (and raise funds) for Shenmue 3 by re-releasing 1 & 2 as downloads. It's sound business strategy. I've just never had faith that it will happen, but I'd love for them to prove me wrong.
One thing I've been wary of when speaking out against the overreactions by so many over this so-called hint, is that it might seem as if I'm just grumpy that a Shenmue re-release would undermine and indeed possibly shatter the basis of the Team Yu campaign. But I long for the day when Team Yu isn't necessary. Whether Suzuki takes the license elsewhere or Sega finally makes Shenmue 3 themselves, all I want is for that game to be released - it just happens that I see Team Yu as the more likely method of pressuring that result.
All that does annoy me about the misreading of these off-the-cuff comments at GDC is that people may now be letting Sega off the hook and holding back on their demands, adopting the belief that all is now right with the world and Sega's got everything well in hand, when in reality that may not be the case at all. And when that eventually becomes clear by the non-appearance of Shenmue on XBLA and PSN, it will be another false dawn to dampen the spirits and weaken the will of those who should be continuing the fight right up until something concrete is finally announced.

I really think it was just an automatic result of sending so many @ replies to people with the same campaign links. That was a very busy day for Shenmue tweets (due to the hysterical OMGSHENMUEHDISOFFICIALLYANNOUNCED!!!!!!!!!111one hypegasm), so I was replying to a vast number in quick succession. My activity most likely portrayed all the signs of a spamming script, of the "get ur cheap medz here" variety.

Thanks Pat. I might see how it goes for a while and not give Twitter any reason to cry foul, but if you PM'd me the details for your account it could come in useful in an emergency.

They haven't given a reason, I just got a message when trying to send a tweet that my account was suspended, and now I can't send or even view anything.
I've just submitted this to the Twitter Help Center:
Apparently they are "usually able to respond within a few days, but some issues may take longer."
This would have to happen while Twitter's abuzz with hundreds of people tweeting excitedly about the Shenmue HD non-story...

The way people are reacting in the Shenmue 500k Facebook group, you'd thing Sega had taken out a double page ad in the LA Times announcing the game's release. It's getting to the point where I just cannot bear to watch, let alone try to be the dissenting voice in the delirious crowd.

Capcom's also facing criticism for something similar to Bioware, with "DLC" for Street Fighter x Tekken stored on the disc. Check out their laughable excuse here.

I'm not buying into the hype yet, but people seem to be getting very excited by this story about Sega's "brand manager" opting not to confirm or deny whether they might be working on Shenmue for Xbox Live Arcade: thegamingliberty.com/index.php/2012/03/13/shenmue-coming-to-xbla-sega-hints-at-development/As evidence goes, it's about as flimsy as anything that Shenmue fans have embraced before, but if it gets people talking about the franchise then it can't be a bad thing. Edit: To hear the comments in context, they're right at the end of this interview about Jet Set Radio: www.gamereactor.de/grtv/?id=27471 - Sounds very much like a standard PR "don't leave them disappointed" fluff answer to me, but watch and make up your own mind.

I was also pissed off when i bought the "RE5 Gold Edition" pre-owned because i wanted the extra content, only to find out it was not on a second disc but instead downloadable with a code, which can only be used once! will never make that mistake again Yeah, that is one of the new and probably most effective ways for games companies to combat the second hand market. "Want free extra content? Buy the game new." Can't really complain about that, in all fairness, even though I like a pre-owned bargain as much as anyone.
