I haven't played any of the Mass Effect games yet (got the original in my "get around to it" pile), but there's a bit of justified outrage at the moment over the new one having withheld content on the disk available for additional purchase on the day of release. In other words, Bioware deliberately held back something that could have been in the game from the start, just to fleece customers out of an extra "DLC" cost to unlock it. Pretty shameless.

American company GameStop was the main rumour to buy them out, but now the Financial Times is pointing at the company that owns Comet.

There is a game attached to the cartoon, but it's not even a soccer/football game. It's a tile sliding puzzle or something like that.

As this is a UK-centric forum, I wondered if everyone's aware of the troubles currently facing GAME Group, which owns the GAME and Gamestation chains of high street stores. www.metro.co.uk/tech/games/892825-game-admits-end-may-be-near-as-reports-say-company-is-up-for-saleThere are lots of bargains to be had right now, as they desperately try to rake in some cash to save the company over the next two weeks. Virtually everything is reduced, to some quite surprising levels, thus shelves are emptying pretty quickly. No Shenmue though...

That doesnt mean if anyone has something to add to the topic they shouldn't post it. On the contrary. If it interests us we'll reply back. A new member wouldn't necessarily know that, however. I'm not proposing a Gestapo-like clamp down on banter, but like I said, I can only tell you my first impressions as a newcomer and it's up to regulars like yourself whether you choose to do anything differently. It sounds like you're happier not to, which is fine.

I thought "call of the foot" was some expression I wasn't familiar with, but now that I see it's from a French site I guess the meaning of that phrase has just been lost in translation! Team Yu post about the interview:

I have some constructive criticism to offer, if I may.

I understand that most of the regular posters around here have been going back and forth with each other for years, having to make their own entertainment because of the scarcity of new blood. It's the same for a lot of niche forums. But when I signed up I was quickly discouraged from participating in what had first seemed like interesting threads, because they had dissolved into the same random slanging matches (all good humoured of course) that seem to fill the whole forum. I recently replied to a thread in the general gaming section, and felt like I was the one dragging it off topic by discussing the subject written in the title.
If I was to suggest a change to the forum, it would be trying to keep a separate section for quirky banter about who's mum's fattest and who's dad's got the biggest collection of gay porn, and in the other sections, not being deadly serious or regimented, but trying to be more mindful of what people will be hoping to find when they open each thread. Just a bit of self-moderation really, for the good of the site.
But I can only tell you my first impressions and experiences, for what they're worth. At the end of the day this is your corner of the Internet, and I'm not saying anything should change if it's going to make existing members miserable. It just depends how much you want to attract the few potential new posters who might be interested in a Shenmue-themed messageboard.

I didn't get a reply either. Which is just rude more than anything.
Great quotes in that interview there, and I agree with you that it points rather firmly at Sega's grip on the license being the main obstacle between a willing Yu Suzuki and Shenmue 3. Have you got a link that I can use for quoting the source?

I got you a present, Johnny!
I know, I know, I didn't have to. But I also know how much you've been wanting Sega to make a sequel to a certain classic game from their back catalogue, with lines that people are still quoting today. A game that nearly everyone who owned that console remembers, fondly or otherwise.
So, well, I put in some extra effort and finally got Sega to relent. The day has finally come. Happy birthday Johnny, and enjoy your first run copy of Altered Beast 2!
Wise from your gwave!

Shaq-Fu (Mega Drive/Genesis) Excellent graphics, but the fights consist of shuffling across the screen to stub your opponent's toe until one of the combatants mercifully dies of boredom. The depressing title screen music sets the tone.
E-SWAT (Master System) The 16-bit version might be better, but this was awful. Think Streets of Rage but everyone has a pistol and you can't move towards or away from the screen. And enemies just keep coming from both directions. Infuriating.
World Wrestling Championship (Playstation 2) So bad it's almost good. Definitely a spectator sport, as it's hilarious in a sadistic way to witness a newcomer reach higher and higher levels of exasperation at its utterly poor design and execution. Google it for the one review that exists out there.

There's a whole forum for random other Shenmue topics, Johnny. Though on a note related to something we've discussed before, I found out today that it wasn't even Sega's idea to include Ryo in All-Stars Racing. It was pointed out by someone on the Team Yu Facebook page. The developers (Sumo Digital) asked if they could use him and Sega went along with it, supplying the character model from the Shenmue games. If this is true then it definitely wasn't a proactive attempt to re-spark interest in a proper sequel, because if Sumo hadn't specially requested Ryo then Sega wouldn't have bothered.

Here's a statistic to illustrate the participation levels today. Since Team Yu launched two months ago, I've been searching every day for tweets that support the cause of Sega releasing the Shenmue license to Yu Suzuki, and adding those tweets to the Team Yu " favorites" list. Well so far today, that list has already doubled in size... More on-topic tweets in one day than in the past two months. Well done everybody, that's what I call a damn good start. Let's keep that up on April 3rd and try to get more and more people involved with each passing month. #GiveYuTheShenmueLicense hasn't gone as far as trending today, but if we can actually make that happen on a monthly basis then it will become reasonably common knowledge what the fans want Sega to do. That's when it won't matter if Sega's Twitter staff ignores it - the news will circumvent them altogether, and our message will reach the people who make the decisions. Those people again may not care what we want, but they will care how it makes their company look when their selfishness is trending on Twitter every month.
