Death's probably been wanting to pack it in for centuries but the government keeps upping the retirement age.

Good going, Pat. When you've sobered up a bit, take a look back for my post about Shenmue Stare's video project and confirm the name and profile pic you wanna be represented by.

We finally have an "in" with the ShenmueFans page on Facebook, and ironically it's none other than Ziming. He's been allowed to resume posting updates on there after a previous demotion, and he's offered to use these new privileges to help promote the Tweetathon. The difficulty at the moment is chasing Shenmue Master to follow through at their end, but I hear they're trying to arrange another interview with Yu Suzuki at the Monaco Anime/Game Show in four weeks' time, so it's understandable if everything else is taking a back seat for now.

Tell me about it. They're constantly hammering on my door, desperately, tirelessly. I suppose one of these days I ought to let them out.

They posted 3-4 updates inbetween the reply they sent me and the end of December, but nothing this month. So they could have been aiming for the day of the Tweetathon itself and then been snowed under (perhaps literally) with something in the real world. All I can do is keep nagging them every month, and keep them updated on the support we're receiving from others, like you said. Don't know if you've seen it but a Shenmue fan on Twitter has started his own blog about the Team Yu campaign here: iwantshenmue3.blogspot.com

What's this business with ShenmueFans all about though, I don't think you ever mentioned them? It's a Facebook page with over 15,000 fans, same as the total membership of the Shenmue 500K group, but "pages" and "groups" have different advantages. When a status update is posted on a page by its administrator, it can (in theory) appear in the newsfeed of those fans, so they'll see it amongst the usual status updates from their friends without having to manually visit the page like they'd have to with a group. This makes pages a better way of reaching out to casual fans who don't make a habit of checking in on the community day to day. So with that in mind, here are the messages exchanged between myself and the ShenmueFans page admin: Me (28th November) - Me (1st December) - Me (18th December) - ShenmueFans (22nd December) - Me (22nd December) - Me (1st January) - It's now 19th January and as you've guessed, nothing's been posted.

Good on ya mue. If you end up being categorised, what label do you want to come under? Shenmue UK? Team Yu? Shenmue Dojo? RLLMUK? Also Pat (and anyone else), please stop playing with your belly button and post your confirmation here if you haven't contacted Stare directly. On a different note, I've made a breakthrough with the French site Shenmue Master and they're going to post a news item about the Tweetathon. Suppose I shouldn't celebrate until it actually happens though, after the unexplained U-turn by the ShenmueFans Facebook page. There's also something else exciting around the corner, but I'll let you chew on the suspense until it all kicks off. ;D

Not specific to Team Yu, but here's something being put together by Shenmue Stare: Who wants to be featured, and by what name and profile pic? Pat, I assume you'll be namechecked as an admin of Shenmue UK, but for the rest of you, which site/group/etc (if any) do you want to be categorised/most associated with? Also, your location/nationality will be displayed to help show that it's a global effort. To confirm how you want to be listed, either contact Stare directly (via Twitter, Facebook or the Dojo) or post here and I'll pass on the message. I'll be shown by my real name under the Team Yu banner, I think.

It's a kind of depressing read, not for the campaign but for the state of society. People who have no interest in something, yet feel the need to try and quash others' enthusiasm. Their arguments are dated and desperate - made only for the sake of opposing a keenness that they can't relate to. If it wasn't text on a screen I'd accuse them of just liking the sound of their own voice. I don't know if they're genuinely stupid or willfully missing a lot of points, but either way they don't seem capable of ernest discussion, despite the propensity they appear to have for mass debating.

Unique tweeters are continuing to rise since November, heading back towards the heights of September. This month was the second highest ever below that peak.

Also in regard to timezones, twitter is being a bit funny, as it seems to be set on a different time zone from the one I'm in, meaning that some of my tweets are marked as being sent on the 2nd when I check, even though they were definitely sent on the 3rd. So be mindful of that, Sweaty. Stupid question but have you checked your settings to make sure your account isn't viewing things from the perspective of a different time zone?
