Stats are in: s17.postimage.org/7898plqpb/Tweetathon_July2012.pngMore tweets posted by fewer people, again. That's without me retweeting everything on the day, so perhaps some more of Team Yu's followers would have remembered to join in if they'd been prompted. We'll find out on August 3rd.

Yeah, I try and determine if a tweet would have still been sent on the 3rd in that person's time zone - usually requiring a stalker-like examination of their profile and tweet history (eg, do they talk about cricket or baseball?). For Science!
I share your concerns about the horse video, though I seem to be the only one at Shenmue 500K who feels that way. I don't think I'll be reissuing that link as much as the other ones.
If you find a way to capture the footage you want to use in a video, you could always send it to me for editing with an outline of what you have in mind for the finished product, and I'll try and put it together for you. My Gmail.com address is teamyuneedsyou@...

I plan to gather stats from this month's Tweetathon before the weekend is out. I got back from holiday yesterday so I still don't know what to expect but I'm preparing myself for news of a lower turnout. That aside, and further to the beatboxer a few posts back, a number of videos and other things have been turning up lately from a range of people. I'll quote the first few from the Team Yu Facebook page: Since posting that list, there's also been this: www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=390648480994762The wackier/more left-field items were arranged by Shenmue Stare, who's also gone to the trouble of having two of my articles recorded by a professional voiceover artist (to be used in videos). He's also made me an admin of the Shenmue 500K Facebook group, though that's not likely to make a difference to anything.

I hope TPAM enjoyed it as much the second time round. My posts don't tend to stand up to such scrutiny.

I heard Pat got in trouble with the police on his way to an Elvis costume party. He was driving so fast in his vintage pink American car that his poor passenger suffered a heart attack. They're calling it a cadillac arrest.

For the purposes of this video I'm thinking more of in-game moments that didn't become cliffhangers, but would have been frustrating if the game had ended right there. For example FF7 didn't end with that character being killed, but what if it had? And we didn't have to wait until the next Mario game to find out which castle the princess was really in. So moments where the game proceeded as normal, but would have been a terrible place to leave us hanging if they'd chosen to do so.

I need more game/moment suggestions (with clips if possible) before I can really get started on that "could have been you" video.

Nice one mue.
Also if you're able to find clips of some of the scenes that would help too, as I probably won't have played many of them and won't know what to look for.

In my next campaign video I want to focus on the "it could have been you" angle towards fans of other game series, so this is my plea for any and all suggestions of famous moments in popular (or indeed niche) games where cancellation without resolution would have left the player feeling as lost and frustrated as Shenmue fans have felt for the past decade.
For example, the part in Final Fantasy VII where a certain sympathetic character is killed by Sephiroth - and the game ends without an opportunity for revenge.
Or Mario being greeted by Toad saying his princess is in another castle - and that's all, folks. Thank a-you so much a-for to playing my game.
Please rack your brains for as many plot points or pre-climactic scenes as you can, which in a parallel universe would have really left players hanging if that franchise had taken the place of Shenmue. Let's show all gamers why they should support our campaign out of principle, lest the same cruel fate befall their favourite characters in the future.

The 'blabber' is just some user on 4chan, an anonymous forum notorious for its deviants and pranksters. If I had genuine secrets to spill, and wanted them to be taken seriously, that's not where I'd post them.
I'd go to a reputable gaming site and allow them to verify my credentials, under the condition that they protect my identity in their article. Then, even if they couldn't prove my claims about Shenmue, they could at least throw their weight behind the claim that I'm someone who might have legitimate inside information and know what I'm talking about.
On the other hand, if I was just some scrubber looking for fifteen minutes of attention, with no direct comeback from anybody when my claims prove bogus in six months, then sure, I'd post my best guesses on 4chan and either take credit when they come true, or change usernames when they don't. Easy.
