Do you think that this quarter was unfinished? and maybe more was to be added?
I say this because when your in this quarter you can clearly see over the other side of the road there are people walking about and quite detailed shops including the grand hotel and the british embassy, i think they originally intended to let you walk around over there, also you cant go in any of the shops in the golden mall which sucks, i think they should have had some accesable ones. i reckon shenmue II was a bit rushed for the dreamcast because the dc was dying when it was released, they could of it least added some stuff for the xbox version.

im glad u brought that up coz i noticed it too!! I mean whats the point in putting all that detail there for no reason, it would be cool if you could go over there!

Yes, I think this quarter was definetly not finished properly. Sometimes, a game has a certain deadline and if the areas that they would have added were supposed to be in the game for you to travel to but It might have taken them past the deadline which means no published game

actually i don't think that it was unfinished as if it was they would have to have come up with a way for you to get there without being run over lol.
also i like the golden quater theres loads there.
2 arcades i think and loads of machines to play

IMO the Golden Quarter is the worst area in the game. If it weren't for the arcade, I hate it even more. You can't go on the other side of the street. And why are the shops inside the mall are closed?

You guys should try the shops behind the street that goes along the road, most of the shops there you can go into like the book store.

Sory for the bump but...
The quarter was finished. There is a trick in which allows you to enter the road in Golden Qr in which is glitched on each side of the endings of the street. I posted this glitch in the Glitch guide i created here. It was finished but it was and is glitched in the street.

I don't believe that it was finished, persay, because the only way you reach the other side of the road is through glitches. What I want is actual playable land and more shops in the Quarter. If they could do it for Kowloon, how could they not do it for Wan Chai? The shops that wre closed in the mall and such just took away from the realism of the game.

Im really not sure. You may be right but i heard that they've finished it. What you see in-game is a non-glitched area when not in the road using the glitch i posted here. But when you do the glitch and look around you'll see glitched area's. They finished it but they thought there was no way possible to get in the road but i found one and got in. It was finished but the glitched area's are just glitches and nothing more thank that. Glitches occur even when the makers of the game don't know it and this is what this is. A complete area with a few glitches to it.
I hope i explained clear enough.

Yes, but the developers don't allow Ryo to explore those places unless you cheat. So in my opinion, I believe the areas are unfinished. And the glitches usually link to some sort of other dialogue, don't they?

well id say the developers called it a day and just simply couldent be arsed making more detail of the shops and letting you go in them and couldent be bothered letting you across the road so id say it is unfinished yes

Pat, you fucking bloke, the developers made tons of shops in Kowloon in which you could explore, so why the fuck did they not allow exploration of the shops in the Golden Quarter. Also, I seem to remember when you walk up to the velvet ropes you hear sounds of clapping or voices or some shit, but you can't go anywhere.
