He is so hard, and though it isn't integral to the game's completion or story progress, the gamer will want to beat him. But SEGA seem to have placed a mightily hard boss fight. He parries and blocks practically every move meaning Ryo can never rely on combo's otherwise he'd be left vulnerable for a counter. It also takes ages to defeat him, there's no power bar for him like Ryo has and I knocked him down about three times and he still beat me!
Anyway, last night on my third attempt of the night I beat him! I always feel like stuffing that ticket down his throat when I see that FMV, annoying, annoying! But kicking him into the arcade machine was cool!
I had in fact the night before decided to carry on despite him beating me, and I got all the way to harbor job training when after talking to 'patrick' I decided to have another crack. I can never let a game beat me!!
I had my crescent kick in advanced mode, so I just got stuck in. No crawl cyclone, haven't bought it yet when I looked for it. Plus it's hard to pull off quickly against Chai.
Let's just say Chai got a pasting...Who's the daddy??!!

Congratulations, he is a tough nut to crack but its rewarding when you beat him cuz he is so hard and ryo rescues the arcade owner. also you dont have to be rescued by fuku-san again!

It just seems so bizarre that they would put Chai in the game, it's just such a huge leap in difficulty compared to all the other opponents.
The last boss in Shenmue 2 is too easy, and I was just thinking about Chai the whole time. I'm saying to myself "Heck, I beat Chai so I can take anyone one, you don't want to mess with me pal!"
All the Free Battles are way too easy (or am I too good?) and are generally settled by QTE's, which really pisses me off. There's no skill in that, but there is in taking an opponent down Virtua Fighter style. Combo's etc.

well I must admit I have never beaten Chai.............also I have never beaten Izumi.....
I think SEGA done a pattern by having Chai as the hard one in I and Izumi as the hard one in II............I mean I found Master Bhauli Hu and Diu Neo easier

Izumi the hardest character i have ever fought, not so much the fighting i could kick her ass but those shitty QTE's at the end of the fight sucked ass and it too me loads of trys to finally beat the bitch.
