Do your kitchens have doors? Perhaps our mods can show you one.

Pat, make LGS a mod. He's around more than you or Ginfners, and he has a genuine dislike for spam (as opposed to me, who has a soft spot for the quirky and quaint stuff).

Honestly, I think the best thing to do now would be to switch off registrations and lock the forum. Not delete it, but preserve it as a read-only archive for any useful information that might be buried under the dust, with a visible notice acknowledging that active discussion can still be found on other sites.
I appreciate there are sentimental reasons for keeping it open (believe me), but Shenmue UK has passed the point of no return and it now only serves as a haven for spambots to boost the search rankings of whatever scams they're sent here to shill.
Most importantly, the state it's fallen into is not the impression I'd like any fan to receive of the current Shenmue community, which is rather thriving elsewhere. If visitors have to encounter a decaying, dilapidated forum filled with dick jokes from six years ago, I'd prefer it was made clear to them that this is a historical resource, and not representative of modern interest in Shenmue. Locking the forum and displaying a notice of explanation would accomplish that.

Hey man, Shenmue UK made you and can just as easily destroy you if you keep that talk up!
Seriously though, I don't think I'm really fussed either way. On the one hand, I'm not really as bothered about what conclusions some random dude who stumbles across this place decides to make about the Shenmue community, I mean 99% end up at the dojo first anyway. However, I'm not really fussed if this place does close shop now, as it's been totally dead for ages now, and I don't think it's ever even going to get back to 2012 levels of activity lol.
We'll have to wait about 3 months for Pat to see this before we get his verdict.

Don't get me wrong, S-UK has played an integral role in supporting and developing the campaign, by fundamentally not being the Dojo. My suggestion's not intended as a knock on Pat or the history of the forum. Just a glum but practical awareness that it has no future without an overhaul so major that it's probably not worth the effort.

To be honest, I don't think even the most lavish of upgrades would change SUK very much. It's a niche within a nice too many. People want stuff like general gaming forums or even anime forums from specifically a UK perspective, but just not that many people want Shenmue foruming for a UK point of view.
It's pretty amusing that we're discussing the fate of the forum in the "Cheap Kitchens Wolverhampton" thread haha. Love this place.
