um, as far as I know we have been targetting the European SEGA on twitter, well i am going to write Japanese tweets to the SEGA in Asia seeing as we havent tried that yet.

Ah, okay.

FreeTranslation.com is a good site, but I'm not sure if it covers Japanese. I've used it to try reaching out to some French and Spanish-speaking fans on Twitter. No translation site is perfect though, so you have to be prepared to come off sounding like an idiot even if they do understand the gist of what you're saying.

Ive been staying away from home for the last week with no internet (apart from the occasional sneaky look on here at worK) so can someone do a brief summary on what ive missed campaign wise? like what are you guys currently doing? i will have a proper read of the threads on here when ive got time (im working the next 10 days without a day off so wont have much)

I want to help as much as i can when i can. I dont have a Twitter account but i might make one for Shenmue-UK just for campaigning and shit

Not much has changed really, Pat. We're just hitting up twitter, promoting the campaign on any other forums we use, and I think Johnny is doing some sort of video campaign or something. And just generally throwing around ideas.

Today was a good day for retweets, lads! A games journalist retweeted me, apparently because my new twitter name is Return of the mack? and her friend had been singing that Mark Morrison tune all day lol. A few more people then retweeted her.

Its a lot better than last night, when I got bored and so decided to trounce some Richard Dawkin's loving teenger on twitter, looool.

Yeh Hi Patrick, I'm new to Shenmue UK here but am a campainor at heart and I say mue26 and letsgetsweaty are too modest. They been teething all the time, letsgetsweaty apparently set up like an article in the Metro online about Shenmue 3, and both have been contacting publishers. I'm sorta still trynna think of what else we could do. I made a protest video which will air tomorrow on my you tube account and I will provide the link. It is written for team Yu and all other participating campaigns. I've tried to make it not the usual video campaign and instead put a lot of research and persuasion into it so that it has Sega as a target audience which can then be tweeter to em over and over. I'm hoping it goes viral in the twitterverse Shenmue community.

As regards other things, just adding onto mue26 btw this post, nothing much...just discussing ideas. So far we've settled to get more ppl involved, assault Sega on twitter and contact publishers and make a video to pummel Sega with on twitter and their forums. I been doing sum writing on their forums and I plan to start resettle to Sega in Asia hence my discussions with mue26 above about using a Japanese translator. Were just making huge pests of ourselves but we really need sum more supporters and more ideas to hit Sega with.

Just a short letter on the letters page, not a whole article. Though I'll try sending one in for the weekend reader's feature. Maybe the piece from Facebook about the cost of making the game?

I sent a five-part DM to Shenmue500K yesterday lunchtime, about working together on the mass re-tweet idea, and as I know they've been online they're either mulling it over or letting their silence speak for itself. Hopefully the former, as co-ordinating our efforts on a set date would be great, especially if their followers, erm, followed suit and retweeted the retweets. That would potentially be a fairly overwhelming barrage of Shenmue activity.

Ok, I just finished my 'soft hello' video to SEGA completely now. It is done. I'm gonna get a second opinion before I air it tonight but it isnt like most shenmue campaign videos ive seen where its just gameplay and text with pleas...its more in your face I think.

As for now, look after assaulting Sega on twitter for me, I am off to college to study the wonderful world of mri/pet scans and fly genetics. hmm, lovely

Oh Sweaty, that joke just savagely offended my religious beliefs. And secondly sneak peak? bloody hell, is it that good? hey im flattered. Well I got news, Shenmue500k just subscribed to my channel and will promot my vid seing as it has the Shenmue500k hashtag, along with Team Yu, Give Yu the shenmue lisence, shenmue myspace campaign and shenmue3campaign...um, my first video was a sorta 'sneak peak' of what is to come, that was my rough draft, now I have done a final version. This is the nasty bitch currently hiding on my harddrive that is going to kabudle SEGA once released. I would say it is like a symbolic manifestation of the Chiyou, but that would really be pushing some boundaries now hey? lol

Have I missed a link to the first video somewhere? Sorry if I have.

PS: License, not Lisence or Liscence or any other version - nothing will ever trend if we're all promoting different spellings! License is the American spelling and Americans make up the majority of the English-speaking Web, so sticking to that form is the path of least resistance.

Sweaty, have you considered signing up to rllmuk forum and attempting to promote the idea pf the campaign there? I can't say I use the forum much (though I do have Team Yu in my sig there!) but it is one of the UK's biggest gaming forums, and has a retro gaming subforum. I also know that the editor of Retro Gamer magazine frequents it as well as a few other gaming journo's.

I guess you could start a thread in the Retro (or non-retro) section and see how people respond. It can be a cunty forum at times, though.
