I'll give it a go. Even amongst the disappointing reaction at Dojo (isn't that supposed to be a site for Shenmue fans?) there was still someone taking notice which made it worthwhile. I forget his name though. Strange fella.

Heh. Yeah, but you have to understand that long term Shenmue fans have been through so many false hopes only to be left in disappointment, over the last decade. And so, as silly as it sounds, many probably find it less painful to reserve little hope for a Shenmue 3. The Dojo in particular, seemed to collectively move towards a very pessimistic stance over the last few years or so, and recently the situation there has only gotten worse with the departure of a couple of some the only last, long term members with relatively optimistic outlooks. So there isn't much balance any more.
I actually initially signed up to the Dojo in an attempt to spark some sort of campaign (back then they even had a 'Campaign' sub-forum) and my (admittedly pathetic, poorly thought through, and un-organised) campaign was completely trounced. But what was really disappointing for me, was the disdain that any talk of a potential campaign received. In fact, Pat who runs this site here, was the only one who had something positive to say!
That's why I say that it will be a challenge to inspire some of the long term Shenmue fan-base again, but it I do have hope, we just need a few more guys like you out here to help get momentum going.
Out of curiosity, did you ever try e-mailing or PMing Yama (the Dojo's new owner) about getting your campaign details on the sites front page? Now that I know more about your campaign, I think it's a both ambitious yet realistic one, that appears to have some real, achievable goals set in sight. I actually think it's a lot more exciting than that Shenmue500k one, which seems to be content to just sit there and amass followers. So you never know, Yama might just go for it if we're lucky, and from what I've seen of Yama he seems like a pretty reasonable guy.

andriasang.com/con012/seaman_3ds/?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeedNo idea if anybody saw this already, but Seaman is coming to 3DS as part of Nintendo's attempt to revive old IPs for 3DS from across the industry. I certainly wouldn't mind Shenmue and Shenmue II remakes on 3DS and the control scheme would work fine with the layout. I wouldn't want Shenmue III to be a portable title, but imagine if it were Wii U exclusive and you could transfer your save data over from the 3DS...

Is it wrong that what excites me the most about the prospect of Shenmue on a Nintendo console is Mario capsule toys?

Sega have been talking about 'reviving old IP's' for a while now, but I honestly just can't fathom why they haven't resurrected Shemue yet. Surely it wouldn't would be too much effort to re-release the title in some form, and surely it would be profitable, as well as testing the waters for profitability of the franchise. But they seem so reluctant to touch Shenmue.
Although I guess if you read between the lines of Yu's latest interviews, we could potentially already have a port of HD remake on the way?

Yu has been way more optimistic about Shenmue over the last few interviews.
It's safe to say his working relationship with SEGA has improved too now he's branching out as a contractor for game development with other studios instead of being at some vague producing job.
He may be strong-arming SEGA into some sort of revival, or at least playing like that's the case in public to build hype.
Real talk though here, if a Kickstarter began for the Shenmue licence or to help partially fund Shenmue III? I'd drop a £1000 minimum as a donation.

^ Exalted.
But yeah I agree with what your saying about Yu, he's definitely up to something, that's for sure. To be honest, I'm just so happy to have him out in the public again as opposed to locked in Sega's basement.
But also in regard to some sort of Shenmue Kickstart, while the details would be difficult to work out, I think it could raise a huge amount.

Thing is Yu Suzuki can obtain licenses with ease now from SEGA. I dont know if any of you saw YS NET recently just made a social Virtua Fighter game for mobiles a few days ago - their second company project other than Shenmue Gai - and therefore it shows with the rapid succession of obtaining IP's from SEGA, it can be done and SEGA will allow it. I think they just like to do things in their own time...which could be years. But when I saw the interviews with Yu, that was the first time he ever talked so much about Shenmue, even protesting when a crowdmember taunted saying Shenmue is unsuccesful, Yu replied 'I agree otherwise'...I think Yu may quite easily obtain the license once more from SEGA to make Shenmue 3...its just that its a demanding project and its safe to say Yu might be a bit exhausted and well miffed even that he invested so much with Online and Gai and it flopped and now he has to invest all over again for Shenmue 3....but he seems to enjoy what he's doing now. If we could promote the franchise so that it is the most popular IP/Kickstarter funded game to be made...that should reassure Yu. My video is 97% complete...im going mad

OK, the intro and outro text is too fast and that messed up bit of text that drags kind of ruins it, but nonetheless I applaud you on so many levels for that. You have some balls, mate. Also I like the shirt and pink tie (and wristband??) combo at the beggining.
Oh, yeah, at 6.06, are you saying "and we're your pals, bredren"?

Yeah mate but it's ok, I can merely extract those English and Japanese testimonies and post them on the Sega forums with the video link as a supplement so all is not lost

And just to confirm, are you wearing a wristband with that shirt and tie in that beginning bit?
If you chop any bit, just chop that mash up text bit, though.

On the back which you can't see it has some shiny cuffs on it. I just think it looks...different ha! I also put some silver prayer beads on the same hand as well. Yeah I just got in from work/college and shot this. :b
