Karma. To some the idea is misunderstood (and very often feared) as some cruel idea of a system that renders one powerless over his/her destiny, and prevents life from being enjoyed. This is not how Karma should be viewed however, and for me the idea Karma is the complete opposite. It is a spiritual philosophy which makes it easier for me to understand that I am actually in direct control over my entire destiny, and am not at the whim of some random and chaotic universe that gives and takes for no purpose.
If a leave the house tomorrow and a steaming bull comes charging from around the corner and leaves me unable to walk for the rest of my life. How greatly it helps to know that it wasn't all random, and that somewhere along the line (whether this life or a previous) I am directly responsible, and can take active steps to insure that things like this don't keep happening.
Even karma that could be perceived as bad, isn't really bad. Everything we go through is an important experience which our individual soul's must experience. Whether that be victim, perpetrator, observer or activator. And once we learn our lesson we can move one step closer to eliminating our karma, or at least negative karma.
Essential you say that according to one who believes in karma, there is no true injustice in the world. This is true. However it is absolutely vital to remember that even if one does believe in Karma, suffering should not be ignored or treated with cold indifference. Compassion should always be cultivated, and we should strive to help others wherever possible.
The is nearly no point in arguing as to whether Karma is a real force. The point is, how are you living you life, is it painful, or not? The idea of karma can help enable some to live a less painful life. Some might be to achieve this without the philosophy of karma, of course, but nonetheless I find Karma to be empowering and just makes sense to me. Just as found the idea of being a part of god rather than a separate entity to god, to be incredibly empowering.

i'm barely in control of my life, and that's ok. kind of humbling. and there's no point in stressing about it cause there's nothing you can do about it

There's certainly nothing wrong with that perspective, as long as it works for you and you find it humbling. But actually, a major cause of stress for many is the fact that they feel they have so little control over there lives, whether that be economic, health related, work related or whatever
I can see the merit of what you saying too, though Beedle. Sometimes it is important to be able to just let go and let what will be, be. But I guess that's what I find to be the beauty of Karma, as in I can feel like "OK well that was my karma, it was unavoidable and there's no point me beating myself up over it" yet at the same time feel like I can take a positive step forward,

Remember when Glenn Hoodle got fired for saying physically and mentally disabled people deserved it cuz of karma from a past life? Good stuff.

Thanks Joe! I did see what you did there.
@gin
Yeah I remember that, to be honest Glenn was proper stupid saying that publicly like he did. But saying that, it was harsh sacking him.

I got to love him in a past life. I was a princess and him a cheeky street urchin. Still, I was kind and bathed him and saw he was very well hung so we screwed. That good karma is why I'm so blessed today

This thread needs a bumping, as so too does my ego.
So recently I'm thinking that I maybe differ from the average male. Well, I'm sure as many of you know, I obviously do, and in many ways, but I'm talking about one specific thing in this post: The fact that raw potent physical attractiveness and sexuality does almost nothing for me without a fantastic and equally infatuating personality to match. I mean, almost everybody requires that when looking for a serious relationship, but I mean, I don't think I can even get sexually excited without that other half of the package. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate beauty alone, but I genuinely don't think it could give me a raging hard on without that something deeper. Or so I have come to believe, at least.
So....ahem....well...this has turned into a strange post indeed...

Matters of the heart can be confusing some times. I never thought I'd be so confused as I am now...
I've listened to this song like 6 times in a row now...

It's not strange, mue (re: personality) But the trick is to write a back story for the chicks in porn yourself. They're pretty empty vessels not because of poor writing or acting, but so you can impose and traits you wish upon them, much like, say, when playing as Link in Zelda. Sure, there tends to be something there you dont like, or is pre written, but nothing you cant work around with a bitta thought.
