That's the thing, it had half a horror score but I was too used to that kind of music being in shitty slasher flicks. It baffled me but I guess that was more my preconceptions. It was fascinating how such a long film left you asking so many questions about the main character however without it leaving you feel shortchanged in it's storytelling, if I'm making sense here.
But along the same lines, DDL, has he done enough to rank alongside the all time greats for you?

I don't know, I loved him in There Will Be Blood, but thought Bill the Butcher was overrated, and I can't think of anything else that he really stood out in... But it will be interesting and sort of controversial for him to play Lincoln. I know he can do it. But anyways, most actors, besides select few (e.g. Buster Keaton (he also directed)), I don't consider much more than paint for the canvas that the director needs to make his work come to life. You need good paint, but acting is really interpreting someone else's art in whichever way they see fit. I thought he was excellent in TWBB though, fucking engrossing performance. Mainly drawn up by PT Anderson's brilliant orchestration of scenes.
On a side note, isn't it funny how many British actors play American icons, and vice versa. Lincoln played by a brit, Thatcher played by an American (Streep). Most movies that I can think of with these two nationalities have a sort of weird trend.

I'm one of those stinking casual film watchers The only film I think I watched that I appreciated almost solely from a directorial perspective is 12 Angry Men. It astounded my young self how Sidney Lumet managed to make a bunch of guys in a room chatting for an hour and a half as thrilling and engaging as he did. There's probably been others but none stands out for me like that film did.

Yes, without the question mark I take it very rhetorically.

Have you met any of the people that say The Artist was just a gimmick? If so did you murder them or just hurt them? I have heard people say that the only reason its popular is the "silent gimmick"

Joe, what are your views on the human centipede and have you seen the second one? It's a funny movie but no, I haven't given the second one a chance. Don't feel like it is too pertinent. The next movie on my list to watch is Attack The Block. I have heard good things. Have you met any of the people that say The Artist was just a gimmick? If so did you murder them or just hurt them? I have heard people say that the only reason its popular is the "silent gimmick" No, everyone I have met really loves the movie. I don't think it is as good as everyone says it is. I don't think it was really a gimmick, because it had a purpose thematically and spoke to the evolution of cinema. I also love when movies that tell their stories visually instead of progressing via dialogue *coughCHRISNOLANcough*, but I did like The Artist and I think Peppy Miller is classically beautiful and mesmerizing.

I saw the muppets. I thought it was good and infectious. Puppets usually always scare me though. That's why I usually stay away from politics.

Came across that (cheeky) and it's rather pretty darn good. Are you a fan of any other super short short shorts?
