I bought my Wii solely to play Super Mario Galaxy, and it was worth it. Then the sequel came along and was just as great. So I've no complaints about the amount of shovelware available - it does me no harm when there are still good games as well. You just have to pay attention to what's actually out there and not get blinded and frustrated by the rows of dancing pony trainers filling the shelves in town.
A fun game that's easily overlooked is Mercury Meltdown Revolution. The graphics are extremely simple so at first glance it looks cheap and uninteresting, but the gameplay is addictively challenging. Just one more go!
A follow-up was released not long ago on Xbox Live Arcade, but it's the Wii's motion controls that make it so good.
Skyward Sword is definitely on my wishlist, once the combined cost of the game and MotionPlus comes down. The annoying thing about Nintendo's catalogue of instant classics however is that they tend to hold their value...

Yep, i have both Zelda games to buy, both Mario games and others but as you say they are still expensive even if you buy them used!

Good from an economic standpoint, but if everyone did that then none of the games you want to play(or at least I want to play) would get made. I'm not bothered about the big hitters, but I do make a point of trying to support the niche media I enjoy, if it get's a release over here.

^ yep such as if Shenmue III came out i'd pre-order 2 copies immediatly, and if it was multi format id get a copy for each format, just to support the series and because im a Shenmue Addict aftet all
Games like COD i always wait to go down, i still need to get Modern Warefare 2 let alone 3

Yes but game budgets would have to go down, and thus games would be far less quality

willing to bet the budget wouldn't change much I bet they would, the budget for the AAA titles is fucking huge, like the GTA & COD games have massive budgets considering that, games are quite cheap these days. Remember in the N64 days when Ninty charged £60-70 for their new games? and back then game budgets were a fraction of todays games due to the games being simpler with less production and voice acting etc

I'd imagine they'd have eggheads balancing the numbers for years to get the ideal price to sales ratio. Works out pretty well at the mo I'd say, high prices for the people willing to pay it, then lower it for cheap arses like us. Everybody wins
