I don't think it's worth any of us bombarding their Twitter, as it's too easy to dismiss a handful of eccentrics. We need to be encouraging action from others - a hundred people sending a couple of tweets each is far more impressive than a couple of people sending a hundred tweets each.

wow, fun little hive buzzing in here eh? whats the haphaps? to lazy to read it all Team Yu is a campaign urging Sega to give the Shenmue license to Yu Suzuki, so that he can explore other funding options for Shenmue III. Whether that's knocking on the doors of other publishers, crowd sourcing donations through Kickstarter, negotiating an exclusivity deal with one of the console manufacturers, or a combination of these. He's passionate about making this sequel and concluding his story, but Sega seem disinterested and even resentful towards the franchise. That's their right, but we believe it's unfair of them to hold onto the license if they don't intend to produce the game that fans have been waiting over a decade to play. We're trying to gather support on Twitter and Facebook (and beyond), encouraging fans to back Yu Suzuki and pressure Sega into doing the right thing. Team Yu focuses on this very specific goal of liberating the Shenmue license, rather than continuing the vague pleas for Shenmue III that have been ignored for the past ten years. Appealing to Sega to make the game themselves simply isn't working, and we believe this is the key issue that needs to be resolved before any real progress can be made. www.facebook.com/TeamYuwww.twitter.com/TeamYu#GiveYuTheShenmueLicense

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective on the DS. Good game, but the ending could have been presented better.

Jewel Quest III, which is pretty frustrating on a BlackBerry touchpad.

Tweeted. Although I personally disagree with the stuff in the YouTube description about an unsolicited collection for Suzuki. There'd be no reason for anyone to donate money if it's not officially endorsed, as there'd be no assurance that the money's going where you say it's going. Know what I mean?

I don't think any of us can really be surprised by now. If it had been Shenmue I'd have been checking the calendar to make sure it wasn't April 1st. Even when the opportunity's handed to them on a silver platter, they refuse to do the most obvious, sensible thing with this franchise. I don't know the extent of Nintendo's "help" on offer, but the potential here was staring Sega right in the face. It still is. And I'll be shocked if they care.

mue26 got a retweet from someone with a lot of followers.
Meanwhile there seems to be a lot of talk at the moment about Dreamcast game Seaman being ported to the 3DS, with Nintendo trying to help third-parties release their back catalogues on the system. Obviously the first word on a lot of people's lips has been Shenmue.

Just watched the video - that is excellent John, very well done! A lot of effort's clearly gone into it and I think you come across well. Is it the final version, or will you be able to remove the text that Windows Movie Maker annihilated?

Is it just me or has @sega fallen strangely silent? They've gone from at least a few tweets per day to absolutely zilch since the day of the back-and-forth over Shenmue.
Probably a coincidence.

I need to wait until this evening now to be able to watch the video. I hope it lives up to my mental image of a Power Ranger trying to blend in at the office.
Regarding YS Net's new Virtua Fighter spin-off, Sega probably still owns the license. I imagine they've just commissioned Yu's company to develop this game for them but Sega still has control over what happens to the VF franchise. Virtua Fighter's still a going concern for them, especially with the revival of the beat-em-up genre, so if they'd actually sold the rights it would be making many more headlines.

Is it wrong that what excites me the most about the prospect of Shenmue on a Nintendo console is Mario capsule toys?

Out of curiosity, did you ever try e-mailing or PMing Yama (the Dojo's new owner) about getting your campaign details on the sites front page? I didn't, I kind of lost interest in the site after the sour welcome. I'll give it a go though some time.

I'll give it a go. Even amongst the disappointing reaction at Dojo (isn't that supposed to be a site for Shenmue fans?) there was still someone taking notice which made it worthwhile. I forget his name though. Strange fella.

um, my first video was a sorta 'sneak peak' of what is to come, that was my rough draft, now I have done a final version Have I missed a link to the first video somewhere? Sorry if I have. PS: License, not Lisence or Liscence or any other version - nothing will ever trend if we're all promoting different spellings! License is the American spelling and Americans make up the majority of the English-speaking Web, so sticking to that form is the path of least resistance.

I thought jeans had flies, not the other way round?
Sorry.
How about giving us all a sneak preview of the vid before it's unleashed on the Twitterverse? I'm intrigued.

letsgetsweaty apparently set up like an article in the Metro online about Shenmue 3 Just a short letter on the letters page, not a whole article. Though I'll try sending one in for the weekend reader's feature. Maybe the piece from Facebook about the cost of making the game? I sent a five-part DM to Shenmue500K yesterday lunchtime, about working together on the mass re-tweet idea, and as I know they've been online they're either mulling it over or letting their silence speak for itself. Hopefully the former, as co-ordinating our efforts on a set date would be great, especially if their followers, erm, followed suit and retweeted the retweets. That would potentially be a fairly overwhelming barrage of Shenmue activity.

Ah, okay. FreeTranslation.com is a good site, but I'm not sure if it covers Japanese. I've used it to try reaching out to some French and Spanish-speaking fans on Twitter. No translation site is perfect though, so you have to be prepared to come off sounding like an idiot even if they do understand the gist of what you're saying.

You know Japanese? Well that is a real boon. Did you study it or grow up with it?

It's just the videogame letters page on the Metro website: here. They don't print those letters in the actual newspaper as far as I know, just some of the videogame news and reviews.
