I was such a cheating bastard in that game though, would turn fouls off, then just long shot and when their keepers saves foul him and score.

lol i dident know you could turn them off, i was playing it the other day and fouled the keeper after he saved my shot and i got a red card! lol
Also ISS actually has a Referee running around the pitch (Fifa doesent) for added realism

Good i think ill do that next time i play, i hate the fouling system in all footy games the computer always gets away with fouling

Yeah I notice that a lot too. Seems very unfair considering the computer already has the advantage of being able to tell where on the field all the teammates are, and looking at the tiny full screen radar they have sometimes isn't the same.

Somebody mentioned Yakuza, and of course I'd rate that amongst my favourite PS2 games but moreso the sequel for its minor refinements.
However I'd like to recommend a game that I think Shenmue fans would find interesting. It's called Shadow of Memories (or Shadow of Destiny in the US), and it's a combat-free game that otherwise plays somewhat similarly to Ryo's adventure. The selling point though is the unique story, which has you repeatedly being murdered but going back in time to disrupt the sequence of events leading to your death, while trying to solve the mystery of who's behind these attacks and why. The game has many different endings, each revealing a different twist which collectively reveal the whole story. It's fascinating. Just don't be put off by the main character's haircut.

Thanks for the recommendation Sweaty! When you say few playthroughs, Gin, does that mean it's short? Hows the story hold up?

My memory aint the best but I think it's about 7-8 hours or so but with 6 different endings, and like sweats says each different path reveals new parts of the story. It's certainly worth a pick up if you find it

It would be my favourite PS2 game. By no means the best, it had flaws, then again so did shenmue, but it had so so much i loved to bits. The characters, the humour, the quality voice acting, the soundtrack, by and large the plot itself etc hell of a game
