He may have been able to knock him down in one blow during shenmue I but of course ryo acted without hesitation. since then he has learned many things including the wude, he left and went after Lan-Di staright away, weak and young, but as you have progressed through the story ryo has grown much stronger and every boss/ major enemy you have come across has been a bit harder, Don niu being the hardest.
When Lan-Di was on the rooftop he odviously was testing don niu and Don niu failed the test because ryo beat him but i thought instead of flying away he would of gone down and beaten everyone up and got Zhu because i thought Lan-Di wanted Zhu? thats why the yellowheads captured him, so why did he hesitate and fly off, why did he leave ryo? does he fear him? or is he keeping him alive for some reason?

Yes in a way, he is not really sure how good of a fighter Ryo is, because he hasnt seen him really fight, except vs Dou niu when Ryo kicks his ass. Other than that, Landi hasnt seen nothing. He doesnt really know what moves Ryo will use and all that, and doesnt know Ryo's strategy, so in a way Lan di is scared of him. Thats what i think.

lan di has killed a guy older than him, and who is less able than him
ryo has kicked the shit out of 70 mad angels, a guy who is 5 times his size, and shit loads of other people on his way, of course lan di is scared, ryo hasn't even fulfilled his full potential yet!

i dont buy it. Lan Di isn't scared of Ryo, didn't take him long to stop his attack when his father was killed. No, theres something else. For a start does Lan Di know Ryo has the mirror? He's playing mind games, or lets face it what a waste of time it could be.....
actually i think i just realised whilst writing! there seems to be a patern remember. Hazuki killed lan Di's father, Lan Di killed Ryo's father and so on. So, Lan Di will be leading him somewhere. For what i don't know, but should be interesting

^Agreed, he is one of the leaders of the Chi You Men. He's a master of Martial Arts, I don't think Lan Di is affraid of anyone...
