Yes, I thought the classic formula would be to not forgive but to at least kick his ass to within an inch of life. I really don't mind that he turns into best buds with Lan Di, but I am disappointed in the fact that Yu divulged the info.

I think they will have a fight, Lan-Di will under estimate Ryo's strength and skill, and lose, but rather than kill Lan-Di Ryo will spare his life, thus breaking the chain of revenge. I just stumbled upon LongsunZhao's video (you remember the video, from the start of this thread?) on YouTube, at random. Then I recognised the URL at the end as being the old address for this forum. So on the off chance that LZ reads this: it's a really nice video, I enjoyed it.  On the topic of more (relatively) recent posts in the thread, I don't think you need to look further than the endings of the first two Yakuza games (and possibly the rest, I haven't played them yet) for examples of how to redeem a villain without shortchanging the player on that climactic battle against them. Yakuza 2 achieved this particularly well. |

Indeed, Yak 2 is a gaming highlight for me. Not quite as good as Shenmue though, but my favourite Yakuza games out of the ones (the only other one I've played is 3, which was still pretty good as well, but not quite as tight)
