He he! Here's a topic I love to start to see where everyone's mind is at in terms of gaming in general! List your 3 least favorite gaming systems of all time! Don't be shy and please give some insight as to why you feel the way you do!
Here are mine!
1. Sony PlayStation 1 (Single handedly managed to bring gaming down into a mainstream level of mediocrity. All previous attempts to regulate the flow of quality games for consumers to purchase were thrown out the window and seemingly every game, good or bad, was released simply to add "bulk" to Sony's library of crap games.
2. Sony Playstation 2 (who could forget the blatant LIES Sony spewed forth about the supposed capabilities of this mundane system? Coincidentally, many of these announcements were made whenever Sega issued news regarding it's Dreamcast system. In the end, Sony overpromised and underdelivered (as usual) as mainstreamers everywhere flocked to buy this ridiculous excuse for a system simply because it was the next PS)
3. Sega Dreamcast (yup, another hardware failure and thankfully the last from Sega! Blasphemous to say this on a Shenmue website? Yes and no...the DC was the original platform for the Shenmue series, but aside from Shenmue and a few other notables, what other games for the DC could truly be considered classics? Not only that, but other longtime Sega gamers like myself who bought into Sega's other failed platforms like the Saturn and 32X were once again screwed over by Sega's clueless managment team. Yes, they were forced to release the DC earlier than they'd have liked due to the Saturns earlier-than-expected death, but everything was mishandled from the launch to the ultimate collapse of their business model when Sega began to focus far too heavily on the Seganet infrastructure. Sega deserved its fate and I for one am glad to see them gone from the hardware side of things.)
Other notables....Sega Saturn, Intellivision, Sega Game Gear, 3D0 console, Philips CD-I.

i despise the Nintendo 64,it was a next gen system which took the wrong media and too many childish games, the games in fact seemed to get worse for this system as its life went on, nintendo are getting worse, jacob i cant believe you did not list a single nintendo system, are you a Nintendo Fanboy maybe?

jacob i cant believe you did not list a single nintendo system, are you a Nintendo Fanboy maybe? Actually, the N64 is right up there on my list of console disappointments, but for whatever reason I neglected to list it. You were absolutely correct in your analysis of the N64's fatal flaws. I bought into the N64 hype early on when the SGI-Nintendo partnership was first announced in 1993 with the ultimate goal being the Project Reality console. After overhyping the systems capabilities and providing very little tangible evidence of its true power up until launch, Nintendo set expectations for the N64 VERY high. Yes, the first time we saw Mario64 and Pilotwings64, we were in awe, but then there was precious little else released that even came close to the levels that those early titles set. Even still, upon closer inspection of the games, it was clear that the N64 possessed nowhere near the SGI-Onyx level performance that Nintendo claimed throughout it's development. And the fact about later releases being worse, you're right again! Notice how the majority of games released at the end of the N64's life cycle featured excessive blurring, sloppy control, and questionable gameplay? I have respect for the NES and SNES (and the original Gameboy to some degree...not the GBA though) as I played and loved these systems as a youth. But after the VirtualBoy debacle, it seemed like Nintendo lost their touch in terms of gaming hardware. The Cube is OK, but not exactly what I and the general public expected Nintendo would offer as the successor to the failed N64. Mr. Jason is 100% correct! A wise man and a great addition to these forums! Post more often!

1> N64 what a pile of crap this was ( No game can make up for this) it had to be the most boring and childish console known to man it had pokemon and it wasn't even a fucking rpg it was a bollocks 'beat em up'. This console was the appitame of shit. the control was the poorest design ever. Yeah the fact that you could use one hand to move and shoot was good but the d-pad was so far away it is about as far away as a good boning with jordan ( or other ).
2> Master System This console could have been so much better just look at mega drive only four years and the console was the best one ever to date even better than the arcade . this ment that the console was great . the master system was not even a competition with the nes.
3> Jacob Marley you aren't a console but you are just biasd the fact that you love the x-box sooo much makes you more anyoying than many other consoles. You only don't like sony because it has more than enough competition for the x-box and x-box is losing the popularity war ( i have all three of the next gen consoles Pingham can confirm this ) And i do agree that ps2 is not brill but then again at the moment it has many more brill games than 1 ( halo ) , ( devil may cry 1 + 2 ) ( GTA vice City ) ( Bouncer )

I hate the Dc, but only because it housed Shenmue, which came before it's time, much like gnf in bed.
