Technically it wasn't. It just sort of died like a loose fart with little fanfare.
But fucking hell though, it was playable and was even at an event. All the work and cash just sort of got flushed.
In the long run though, it would have gone free to play and withered to nothing like almost any other MMO that isn't WoW.

However i think Shenmue Master should have asked him why he decided to make Shenmue Online rather than Mue 3

Great idea lads. We'll beat Yu at his own game (literally, har har). We'll release internationally on smartphones around the globe and thus crush Shenmue Town (if it isn't already crushed) and once we get all the profit, we'll buy the rights from Sega before Yu can, and create our own uttertly wrongful and debauched Shenmue 3, and release it all in the name of revenge for having to wait so long for it.... thus the Shenmue revenge cycle comes full circle.

actually there was just 1 in 2004, and again in 05, think they stopped after that
i won the first 3 categories i believe. i think there may have been about 10.
I need to find the old topic as i really cant remember. Just that i havent changed my custom title in years!
