I just want to pay tribute to the late, great Bon Scott, who died 25 years ago on the 19th of February 1980after chocking on his own vomit. The coroners reported stated it was “death by misadventure”.
Ronald Belford Scott was born in Kirriemuir, Scotland on July 9, 1946. In 1952 he and his family emigrated to Australia. He left school when he was 15 working many part-time jobs before deciding to dedicate his time to music as a drummer-cum-vocalist. He enjoyed some success before a motorcycle accident put a halt to this.
When he recovered he took a job as a driver to a young up and coming band called AC/DC. Bon wasn’t satisfied to just be a roadie to the band, wanting to be a member. He achieved this when he replaced Dave Evens in late September 1974, as Dave was too glam-rock for the band. The rest is history.
Despite being in the band for just over five years, Bon cemented his position as one of the greatest rock frontmen of all time.
R.I.P Bon 1946-1980.
