Here's some programs that I've written in about the past year. (I posted in Select cus I don't want some people (Pilcher) to get their hands on 2 of them) I'll post the other 2 in the main forums some time. None are viruses, so if you got some time you may wanna check them out (most were written in under an hour, or for school) ______________________________________________ What Shenmue Character Are You? my.tbaytel.net/rmclean/shenmue.exeDownload and use, very simple program to write ______________________________________________ Snake my.tbaytel.net/rmclean/snake.zipUnizip to one folder wherever you like, should work. This program took hours upon hours of my time to write. ____________________________________________-- Prank my.tbaytel.net/rmclean/msn7.exevery simple program to write. Just a little computer prank. A error will come up saying "attempting to delete harddrive" with a retry and cancel buttons, since no one will hit retry (to retry deleting harddrive), they hit cancel (which keeps the message box popping up). To exit simply hit the retry button ______________________________________________ Email Bomber Edit: If you want this please PM/Email Ren Suzuki. If I trust you as a member I'll give you it.

Visual Basic, shitty language, but the only one I have a good knowledge of. I'll learn Java and C++ soon though.

Visual Basic is shit after you know anything else (I ahvn't heard one person who knows other languages who likes VB). The only good thing is its a good learning language since its easy to pick up on. C++ is the best though.

well the code is a fair bit simpler, its easy(er) to debug and detect errors, and you design the windows interface by dragging and dropping, etc. instead of doing it through code. However, at once you try to do some more advanced stuff you can see its limitations, and it doesnt give you complete control of your program.

well actually look at dreamweaver and HTML. HTML is harder and takes longer and you have to be amazing at HTMto be any good and you can be shit to ue dreamweaver The word for HTML is tedious. Its not so much hard as much as the fact you save hours by using Dreamweaver. However, I use Netscape 4.7 Composer (so basic yet so perfect), and then HTML for anything more advanced. But the difference between VB and Dreamweaver, is Dreamweaver makes (nearly) perfect HTML code (stay away from Frontpage, which uses solely IE code), whereas VIsual Basic has its own fucked up code with a lot of limitations (in Dreamweaver, any limitations can be fixed, since it's "backwards compatlble" with HTML you could say). I'm just assuming that when i am as good at C++/Java as I am at VB, I will abandon VB.

i doubt it as doing something in VB is alot quicker than doing something in C++ it's a really long winded process ill do a little example
// Program : Example // // Purpose : Nothing
#include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <graphics.h> #include <conio.h> #include <dos.h>
#define PIXEL_COUNT 100 #define DELAY_TIME 100 // in milliseconds
int main { // request auto detection int gdriver = DETECT, gmode, errorcode; int i, x, y color, maxx, maxy, maxcolor, seed;
// initalize graphics and local variables initgraph (&gdriver, &gmode, "");
( from there about another half a page of code to make a very small program

VB will get you nowhere as a professional programmer, so it is pointless (unless you have no plans to do that for life and just wanna have fun). At school we do VB in grades 10 and 11, and Java in 12, since I'm in 12 (got computer science second semester), I don't know if I'll use VB much at all now, cus Java is a really good language Also, C++ is worse for short code (because you have to do all the basic code that you need no matter what) and VB you can just start typing your code. However, afterwards for most pieces of code, C++ is less typ ing (if statements, loops, etc.) Then theres the other thing that C++ lets you make custom methods and objects, which makes the code so much easier to work with, instead of 2000 lines of code on one page as it is in VB. My Snake game has over 1000 lines in one form, it is such a pain in the ass to edit anything in it. In C++ I could break it up into seperate modules.

i suppose your right and i haven't done much cus i only started to learn it next week Just face the fact that I'm alwayhs right But I do know my teachers who know VB hate the program. Which is why I found your teacher or whatever liking it kinda strange. Anyways, Good luck with C++., its a good language to learn.
