I've heard rumors about Nintendo buying Bandai outright over the past few days, but the end result appears to be nothing more than a small investment in Bandai with with no controlling interest in the company. 2.6% ownership in a company does not give the buyer any significant power or exceptions.
Nintendo claims that this is merely an investement and that no plans to swap stock or collaborate on future projects are in the works.
Pretty mundane stuff, kind of makes one wonder where such rumors about a hostile takeover of Bandai originate from!
