i think it is shen hua because they have a special bond together it is defenitly not ren because ryo and ren are totally differnt people they have there differances and argu alot through out the game. ren is only in it for the money but i must admit he is a good character tho.

Has to be Shenhua and one of his most important friends as long as Xuiying.
Wong helped Ryo out a lot also, but Ren is probably in it for the "GOLD" or whatever you want to call it.

Im not really sure, he has alot in Shenmue 2, even though he doesnt express his friendship that good. All the people he meat in S2 are cool, so i can just say one. ;D

I like both Ren and Shenhua,
their friendship is so different,
Ren is helping him for money,
but there is some sort of friendship and trust built there when they went through a lot of things in Disc 3 , even Ren is money-minded ^_^
If I have to choose, I will still choose Shenhua,
coz it seems they talk to each other a lot in Disc 4,
some sort of magic-friendship there,
guilin trip - it's the only moment I feel Ryo finally talked about life , not just about "revenge" shown on his face.

Lemme just break it down here, I think Ren is absolutely class, brilliant character, but he doesn't hold a torch to Joy, I can't count the amount of times i've gone into first person mode to get a sneak peak at her ass or ample cleavage  , she's just unbelievably hot, I know she's a computer character, but i'm a sad git like that, anyway, a close third behind these two is Cool Z, his song is hilarious, plus he's the kinda guy I could see myself hanging out with |
