ah well, the shenmue-uk reboot will hopefully get this place more traffic, who would of throught the yanks would be more cynical than us brits lol so much for stereotypes
problem is that ryudo always gets away with his bullshit, today he tried using his health as an excuse when people called him out on it and he was getting close to being demoted he locked the topic and did some bullshit saying that in the future he will be punished, it has been 3 years he has been doing the same bullshit as soon as this is forgotten he will start again, funny how he gave himself a thousand chances yet won't unban anyone

Yes, I have to agree with you. I'm am sceptical anything is really going to change, though I do hope. The problem is that Yama never seems to take any action despite the fact it's hurting the forum greatly with all these endless problems. I don't necessarily blame Yama though, as I can only assume that he hasn't taken action because he fears that demoting Ryudo might damage his health (or he doesn't give a shit about the place). And considering how important that role seems to be to Ryudo, a forced demotion could well impact his health. That's why I try an be as careful as possible (though it does seem he falls back on his health as an excuse at the first sign of trouble), but it's hard to know what to do.

half the time he is lying imo, he said the ambulance was there but he continued to answer, would you continue to write messages on a forum while doctors are in your home checking everything to make sure you're not dying? oh wait mister ambulance driver, I need to write messages on this forum between dying, and i'm pretty sure they wouldnt take chances with someone with heart problems and take them to the hospital for further checks, not say oh its just a panic attack have a pill and magically he is better, that's not how it works
he likes to quote that thread without actually explaining what was going on, he had been a complete dick to me like I said before for months, then he starts acting all high and mighty I get pissed give him a chance to prove his bullshit and in return he bans me and people all say he's right and he did well and are now complaining because he is doing to them exactly what he did to me
on the other hand my spelling really has improved, I can't believe I didn't know the difference between they're, their and there lol

Not to be condescending or insulting to the guy at all, but I see Ryudo as a bit like a child in the way he behaves. To be frank, I think the best thing that could have been done was for Yama to intervene early on and either tell Ryudo how to moderate properly or to take that responsibility away from him (and thus the stress it causes him). Ryudo would never listen to someone me, it would have to be someone he thought of as "senior", and I think he probably admires Yama. Unfortunately after the last big moderator tissy (after which AXM left and all that) Yama seems to have decided on letting Ryudo run it his way without any interjection at all.
It some ways I can understand, because it's only a flippin internet forum at the end of the day and Ryudo has been there since forever, so it's the easiest thing to just leave him be. Unfortunately none of the rest of us can really get through to Ryudo (or are to scared of a banning to raise an objection), and it's everyone on the site that ultimately suffers. Though if he does stop deleting posts, that would be step forward. He used to do that so much, in order to make someone look stupid or himself less bad.
Eh screw it, it'll never be as cool as SUcK. But I just want to stress, it's not that dislike Ryudo, I just don't think he's suited to being mod.
Though, I have to ask; do you really think he edited Qwertys post (the same one he banned him for)? That revelation was a bit of a headfuck lol.

yeah you're right at the end of the day it's just some back corner of the internet, the only thing that pisses me off is that he is constantly insulting me knowing perfectly well I can't answer, I tried to sign up yesterday to give him a piece of my mind but he blocked me in less than a minute while I was writing my post then proceeded to block registrations and lock the topic
yeah yama needs to do something about it, if the "regulars" (most of them barely post nowadays) didn't get all pissy because yama wanted the site to be more family friendly then we probably wouldn't be having this problem
probably, he edited some of his posts in the topic where he banned me so I wouldn't be surprised

Ah, I know how you feel, and I was wondering why he temporarily locked the topic for a while yesterday lol. I tried to speak up for you, but it was pointless for me to continue as Ryudo is absoluetly fixed in his mentality that your the definition evil lol, I think he also implied in his last post responding to me that if I continue "going off topic" he will ban me. Typical Oh well, if even if you did make that post, he probably would have just made the first exception to his new rule and deleted it lol.

I'm beginning to wish I'd stuck around at that place, it sounds like a barrel of laughs. A warm reflection of Shenmue's inspirational moral code.
To act without hesitation. To do what is right. Seems Yama was paying close attention there.

I was actually hoping he would delete it, I was going to screencap it and if he deleted it, it would of been perfect as that's proof he doesn't want people seeing what I have to say, all I would have to do is email it to a bunch of dojo members and staff and all hell would break lose, ah well the moment has passed next time he fucks up I will seize the opportunity better

Right, I know it's pathetic, but I'm starting to get bloody annoyed with the dojo. Ryudo moved my posts about you into the junk forum and Peter replied giving his two cents (but still left the thread in junk, annoyingly). I then decided to man up and wrote a fairly frank post detailing all my problems with the place's moderation, and asked the thread be moved out of junk. Ryudo then replied with "tl:dr". I mean...that's just taking the piss now, surely.

well peter has gotten rather cocky ever since he made a video with pictures using windows movie maker, if I remember properly half of his posts at the time were borderline emo going on 24/7 about how his lifes sucks, talk about shit posting...
as for the moderation problem the guy has fucked up so many times anyone would have to be a fool to think he can still be trusted in such a position, if people weren't such pussies I bet half of the would be telling ryudo to go fuck himself
as for me thanks mue but you should leave it for now, if you continue ryudo will get people on the health train and try to portray you as some heartless being who hates heart patients then ban you for being the devils advocate, as for what was said there was truth but as you said I had no problem having actual meaningful conversations with intelligent respectful members such as you, wude, and a few guys who would contribute to the creative forums and gave my own fair amount of contributions to the shenmue forums and especially the shenmue modding forum, as for trolling people I got tired of the whole elitist thing of the time where everyone was circle jerking and freely insulting anyone who was fairly new to the website, but hey the guy actually encouraging people to post creative things and contribute to the shenmue forums while doing it himself is the one killing the website right? not the emo posters trying to bring everyone down or the moderators insulting anyone who joins the website and targets them over and over and shit posts frequently in topics about things he doesn't like all while regularly abusing his powers and saying things like "the dojo has never been a democracy, deal with it"
anyway thanks for the support mue I appreciate it, I'll have to buy you a drink before I leave London again

No probs man. It's not even just about you anyway, its about how the forum has been run, and for the longest time now it has been pretty terrible. I'm tired of ignoring it just because everyone else is. It's been disastrous for the place, and I am baffled at how some people (like Peter) seem to not notice.
I've now laid all my cards on the table, and called out everyone. I don't have hight hopes of anything really changing, but at least they all now know how I feel.
And I would I really prefer it if Peter gave up pretending the place is a democracy. I mean, not every forum even has to be a democracy, but if it's not it then needs a superb mod or mod team. Ryudo is not one.

yeah I know it's not but I mean you would get your point through a lot easier if you don't back me up, as for change the only way I can see that happening is if people emailed yama their issues with the dojo, if he got 10 emails of contributing members threatening to leave he would be forced to do something, peter has ryudo's back and ryudo is basically like cartman so a frontal approach will just lead to a load of hypocrisy and drama until he got his way

It's a sad shame that the most comprehensive online resource for Shenmue knowledge and materials chooses to represent itself so badly with a forum that's knowingly mismanaged to the detriment of a community that ought to be galvanised by such a place.
I believe that's what JoePesciAddict meant to say.

Believe or not, I think all of what happened might have lead to a positive outcome.
I'm not really convinced the new ban system they are proposing will make any difference. But I think kicking up dust was good for Ryudo. As expected he hasn't given any real direct response to the issues I brought up, nor has the topic been moved out of junk. But he also knows that it's no good for him to start overacting, and has acknowledged that he was out of control, and seems to be treading carefully.
Maybe this is just his last ditch defence mechanism to hold onto his position, and he'll go back to throwing around his weight when this blows over. I hope not, but only time will tell.
I'll also be interested to hear what Yama's response is, but I'm not hopeful he's going to let us vote for who is a moderator.

I don't know, he has done this before to get out of sticky situations, have to wait and see
the shenmue-uk revamp has gone in to motion anyway, should get us a few new members hopefully, it's not as if we need much to be more active than the dojo nowadays

The Shenmue Dojo is Ryudo's only place for friendship, so it is understandable that it means so much to him.

Yeah that's true, and that's where a lot the problems came from. I do really feel for the guy. I think the internet has been a double edged sword for him, on the one hand it's nice that someone who seemingly doesn't have much social interaction in the real world can get some companionship online, but on the other hand I also suspect that the internet has been contributing to making his problems in the real world worse. It's not healthy to spend that much time online.
@ gboy
I'm looking forward to the update!

He did edit my post. He's a fucking faggot. Like you've all said, the Dojo is pretty much his life so he's ultra precious about it. I'm also glad I'm not the only one that noticed him faking his supposed visit from the medics during the drama the other night. He was only doing it to curry favour with everyone because it was looking increasingly likely that something was going to be done about his shit moderating.
